Earlier this year in April, the Mourant Girls Academy took a short trip to Jersey for a full day of football against the Jersey Bulls Academy. The trip was both challenging and rewarding, giving the players a valuable opportunity to test themselves against strong opposition in a new environment. With two age groups representing the Academy —Under 12s and Under 16s—it was a day filled with learning, team spirit, and competitive football.

The Under 12s put in an excellent performance across their two matches. The team showed strong communication, solid defending, and creative attacking play. They drew the first match and followed it up with a confident win in the second. The players' effort and focus on the pitch highlighted how much progress they’ve made in training over recent months.
The Under 16s came up against a well-organised and physical Jersey Bulls side that provided a real challenge from the first whistle. Despite this, the team showed resilience and moments of real quality throughout the match. They battled hard, created chances, and stayed competitive, but ultimately couldn’t find the result they were hoping for. Still, the experience of playing such a strong opponent will serve them well going forward, helping them grow both individually and as a team.

The girls look forward to more opportunities like this in the future, where players can challenge themselves, gain experience, and grow together as a team. The trip to Jersey highlighted the academy’s focus on growth and learning, and the players can be proud of how they performed and represented themselves throughout the day.
