During January and February, all Academy age groups moved indoors for small-sided training sessions. These took the form of mini matches, played as 4v4, 5v5, or 6v6, depending on the number of players available.
The boys’ Aztech Academy combined with the girls’ Mourant Academy to hold boys vs. girls matches, as well as mixed-team games.
The tight indoor spaces enabled players to improve their speed of play, decision-making, first touch, and technical skills using both feet.
These competitive small-sided matches provided much-needed, consistent game opportunities—especially since many local club games were cancelled due to weather.
After half term, the Academy planned to return outdoors, with all groups moving to the new stadium at Victoria Park at the end of March.
